Henry Gotfryd
Henry Gotfryd, licensed member of the Ontario Association and Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, has over 40 years experience in landscape architecture, development consulting, planning, and design for both the private and public sectors. He has served as guest critic and lecturer at the University of Toronto, and as a panelist in seminars, educational forums and site control committees dealing with environment, planning and design issues.
Henry’s projects have been published in professional journals in Canada, the United States, and South America, earning such prizes as the Ontario Architects Association’s Award of Excellence, various urban design awards from Toronto and surrounding municipalities, Ontario Renews Award, the Ontario Masons Relations Council Design Award, and the Guelph Arts Council Heritage Award.
Henry graduated from the Honours program in Landscape Architecture at the University of Toronto Faculty of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban & Regional Planning, and obtained certification in Environmental Assessment and Land Use Planning at the University of Guelph and Waterloo.
Elka Gotfryd
Elka Gotfryd brings integrated, trans-disciplinary strategies to urban and rural challenges. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, yet having studied and worked in the politically charged milieu of West Jerusalem and, more recently, in cities and towns across the United States, Elka understands how specificity of context must inform any approach to governance, planning, and management.
Before joining Gotfryd Group, Elka worked as a Senior Associate and Project Manager at Project for Public Spaces. Prior to this, she served as the community planner for Old City and Downtown Jerusalem, where she was responsible for representing local communities vis-à-vis City Hall and the Local and Regional Planning Councils. Elka has been invited to be a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator at a number of national and international conferences, including Estonia's Taliin Music Week and the Sharing Knowledge Convening hosted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Elka is a member of the Research Alliance for Regenerative Economics. She earned her first Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her second in Urban Placemaking and Management from the Pratt Institute.
